Kids Rule!
Four PowerPoint presentations designed for school assemblies, youth organizations (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts), older “youth”, and 20 – 90 year olds, will provide an opportunity for all to learn more about spiders, human bodily systems, composition, and even our author, Nancy Rewalt.

Nancy E. Rewalt: An Author's Tale:
Nancy's childhood outdoor experiences, education, and love of literature have brought her full circle to becoming a published author. The visuals in this power point will take its audience on a journey as seen and lived through Nancy E. Rewalt – author of the Aerial the spider series – four more books in the works.

Spiders Rule!
This power point presentation is a discussion about the physical characteristics, habitat, bodily systems (circulation, digestion, nervous, etc. NOT REPRODUCTION), and instinctive behaviors of spiders. General information about all spiders and specific details about specific species are entertained in the areas mentioned above. A large SPIDER STATUE helps in giving a visual during the explanations and a SPIDER MOBILE helps the children actively participate in walking like a spider. Four students will mount the SPIDER ON WHEELS and walk like a spider.
The Human Systems Revealed:
Seven bodily systems of the human anatomy are provided in this power point presentation (circulation, digestion, nervous, etc. NOT REPRODUCTION). it is a discussion of how spiders and people are alike but different. Six- 5 foot statues of children doing activities were created with a specific system drawn and painted on the back (young man playing football has the brain and nervous system on his reverse side). Each statue has a hinged door opening in the head so a child can look through and have their picture taken. The photo could be taken with the activity or the system.
Composition at Its Best!
Folk tales ("The Three Bears"; "The Three Little Pigs"; "Stone Soup" to name a few); are discussed as the author's jumping off point for story writing. Young writers are taken through the stages of story development with a composition workbook and a power point presentation. They are taught to outline in a folk tale style, write a manuscript, embellish, and edit. Book publishing and book covers are covered at the end of the workbook. Two websites are provided for any student to send his/her manuscript as a submission for a possible award.
